Back Country Horsemen's Association

The purpose of the Back Country Horsemen's Association, a national, nonprofit organization, is:
- to perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America's back country and wilderness
- to work to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use
- to assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource
- to educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage
- to foster and encourage the formation of new state Back Country Horsemen's organizations
Michael Murphy has been an active member in the national Back Country Horsemen's Association and the local Back Country Horsemen of California organizations for over a decade.
Currently, as a member of the BCHA Education Foundation, Michael reviews petitions for funds and decides where to direct funds from BCHA/BCHC for new projects. This organization is dedicated to protecting our back country wilderness with knowledge, experience and respect for all life.
As an active member of the Back Country Horsemen's of California, BCHC, he currently serves as a wilderness rider.
